About Christine
Dr Christine Brumfitt is a Consultant Specialist General Surgeon. She specialises in all aspects of gastrointestinal surgery and her sub-specialist interest is Bariatric (Weight Loss) surgery.
Christine completed her Undergraduate MBChB (Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery) in 2007 at The University of Pretoria in South Africa before emigrating to Australia. Once here, she completed the Australian Medical Council exams and pre-specialty training in South Australia. She went on to be accepted into and complete the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons’ General Surgery Fellowship Program in 2017, having trained in all the tertiary hospitals in South Australia, as well as regional hospitals in South Australia and the Northern Territory.
Dr. Brumfitt has completed post-fellowship sub-specialty training in Bariatric (weight loss) surgery at Flinders Medical Centre in Adelaide, South Australia. During this time, she was also actively involved in the provision of General/Gastrointestinal Surgery at Flinders Medical Centre.
She is a member of General Surgeons Australia (GSA), Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA), Australian & New Zealand Metabolic & Obesity Surgical Society (ANZMOSS), International Federation for the Surgery for Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO).
